What to say in a video resume?

Think of your video resume as a mini job interview. If you’re having trouble deciding what to talk about, you can answer two or three of the following questions in your video resume:

Please give a summary of your professional background.
What is the employer likely to be interested in?
How your background makes you a perfect fit for that specific job
Why are you the right person for the job?
Why do you think you are a good fit?
Why should the Employer hire you?
Why do you want to join the company?
What are your unique selling points and any relevant skills and experience?
What have you learned in your past that would make you a great fit for this new position?

Protip: Aim for about 60 seconds to two minutes of video when writing your creative video resume script. You can follow these pointers in your script

Who you are
What you do (and what is your relevant experience)
Why you are a good hire
Wrap up with a closing statement.

Here is an example of video resume script

“Hi, I am Daniela Smith, and I am a senior engineer with 5 years of development experience.

After graduating from UC Santa Barbara I became a certified Java developer and have worked on some big projects like PayPal's external payment system, Samsung’s online customer service app, and many more.

I am one of those people who always goes the extra mile. I have worn many hats as a full stack developer. On the backend, I use Python, Ruby on Rails, and PHP. On the frontend, I code in HTML, CSS, Javascript, and its frameworks.

In my free time, I enjoy blogging on emerging programming technologies, traveling, and Photography.

At the current stage of my career, I’m looking into new opportunities with a company that could challenge my tech expertise. Thanks for watching.”
